Ms. Richards is the managing partner at the Pittsburgh law firm of Richards & Richards, LLP. She received her BSN in 1978 and JD in 1989 from Duquesne University. She also received a Master’s Degree in Hospital Administration and a Master’s Degree as a Clinical Nurse Practitioner in 1983. She entered the private practice of law after spending over ten years in the health care field as a Critical

Care Nurse, Clinical Hospital Administrator and as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner.


She is currently an Officer and one of two attorney members of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Patient Safety Authority. The Patient Safety Authority is charged with taking steps to reduce and eliminate medical errors by identifying problems and recommending solutions that promote patient safety. She is a former officer and current member of the Board of Governors of the Pennsylvania Association for Justice. In 2013 she was the recipient of the Milton D. Rosenberg Award in recognition of her service to the Pennsylvania Association for Justice. She is the former Chair of the Medical Malpractice Section of Pennsylvania Association of Justice. She is a Past President of the Western Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association. She is a fellow and past member of the Board of Governors of the Academy of Trial Lawyers of Allegheny County. She is also a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. In 2019 she was presented with the Allegheny County Bar Association’s Professionalism Award. The Professionalism Award is given annually to a distinguished member of the bar association who has contributed to the practice of law and the community as a whole. She has been continuously listed as one of Pennsylvania's Super Lawyers since 2004; voted one of the Top 50 Super Lawyers in Pittsburgh; voted one of the Top 50 Women Lawyers in Pennsylvania; and voted one of the Top 100 Lawyers in Pennsylvania. She is a member of Million Dollar Advocates Forum and Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.

 

Her practice is limited to representing plaintiffs in medical malpractice and catastrophic personal injury litigation.
